New York African Studies Association AWARDS 2007 Micere M. Githae Mugo, NYASA 2007 Distinguished Africanist Award designee is a poet and playwright, as well as full professor and has taught in the Department of African American Studies, Syracuse University since the fall of 1993. Although a Kenyan by birth and upbringing, she is a citizen of Zimbabwe; a Pan Africanist by identification, an internationalist in orientation and a Black feminist. The North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association (N C U G R H A) will receive the 2007 NYASA Service Award.
